Mathew's chatbot is your conversational assistant within the platform. It helps you resolve questions, expand your knowledge and work with your own content interactively.
It's very easy to use and, now, it's evolving to give you even better resources for your day-to-day. Let me explain the new features in detail!
Knowledge modes: choose where the chatbot gets its information
Mathew can respond through the chatbot using different sources of information. You can choose the mode that best suits what you need at each moment:
My content
The chatbot responds using only the content available in your Library (the materials, resources and theory you've uploaded yourself). It's the most restrictive option, and the recommended one when you want to make sure the answers it gives are based exclusively on your materials.
For teachers, this mode is somewhat more flexible, provided you authorise it (at your own discretion and responsibility).
Extended content
The chatbot combines the content of your Library with external sources from the internet. It's the ideal mode when you need to supplement your materials with additional information.
Live extended content
It works like the previous mode, but with two additional advantages:
The information from the internet can be recent and up to date.
You can paste a link in the chat and Mathew will read its content to answer you (as long as the page doesn't require a login).
Important! The chatbot remembers the last mode you used, so you don't have to select it every time; remember to change the mode if you need to. In addition, the three modes are configurable at the school level.
Source citation
Whether the information comes from your Library or from the internet, the chatbot always cites the sources used, so you can check where each answer comes from and have greater control and information about the data you use in the resources you create.
Internal sources
When the answer is based on content you've uploaded to Mathew, you can open it directly from the chat page itself:
The content opens at the specific page or section related to your question.
You can work with it using the PDF viewer.
This opening is not saved in your content history (it's only saved when you open the material from My Content).
Conversation history and management
You have a conversation history to review your previous interactions. This way, you never lose track of your searches.
You can redo the last answer from the interface itself, which adds transparency and lets you explore different phrasings.
You can copy the answers and paste them into other programs. If you paste them into Word or other compatible editors, the styles (italics, bold, etc.) will be kept.
Visual answers: graphs and images
The chatbot isn't limited to text. When it's helpful for understanding the answer, it can:
Generate graphs to visually represent concepts, data or functions.
Show images taken from the content it uses as a reference. The chatbot understands the images in your materials and selects the most suitable ones to complement the explanation.
