(EN)The smart search: find content by concept

Mathew's search doesn't just search by title: it now identifies concepts, topics and content within your documents. If you search for a specific term, the search recommends the materials that cover it even if the title doesn't match. And if you turn on AI Mode, the query is sent directly to the full-screen chatbot.

1. Home page — Find the smart search

In the top header of Mathew you'll find the search bar with the text “Search in...”. To its right is the AI Mode button with a sparkles icon.

Key difference: The old search only retrieved content by the exact file name. The smart search also analyses the concepts that appear inside the document.

2. Type the concept — automatic recommendation

Click the search bar and type “mio cid”. As you type, a dropdown appears below the search bar with the Content section: Mathew automatically detects the PDF La_Literatura_Medieval Española from Spanish Language and Literature.

The file isn't called “Cantar de Mio Cid”: it's called La_Literatura_Medieval Española. The search recommends it because it analyses the PDF's content and recognises that the work is covered in its pages.

Why it's useful: You can search by author, work, concept or historical period, and Mathew takes you to the specific material without you having to remember the exact file name. Searching is much smoother.

3. Turn on AI Mode — full-screen chatbot

Click the AI Mode button to the right of the search bar (or press Enter after typing your query). Mathew opens the full-screen chatbot and sends the question automatically, citing the medieval literature PDF as the source.

The answer comes with a summary and, below it, a chip with the sourceLa_Literatura_Medieval Española (pp. 6, 7, 8). This means the chatbot has read the document and tells you exactly which pages the information comes from.

4. Keep asking — a conversation about Spanish literature

Once inside the chatbot you can continue the conversation. Ask, for example: “What other notable works and authors are there in medieval Spanish literature?”. Mathew answers based on the same PDF and again indicates the cited pages.

My Content: Below the message field is the “My Content” label, which indicates the chatbot is consulting only your materials (not the internet). You can broaden the source by enabling Extended Content.

Save time: The smart search + AI Mode turn any question into a conversation with a direct citation to your classroom material. You no longer need to open the PDF to find a specific fact.
