You can add students to classes from the 'My Classes' tab > 'Add students' button:

It lets you select students from one of your classes or students from your whole school:

The 'From your whole school' option lets you mix students from different classes, so you can work by ability groups, optional-subject groups, support groups, project groups, etc.
