Mathew is the result of 7 years of research into how artificial intelligence can be applied to improve education.
In 2018, AI was barely being applied and even less so to education. We clearly saw that the potential to personalise education was huge, and we created Mathew.
After talking with thousands of teachers and students, we shaped Mathew up to its launch in Spain in September 2023. Since then, Mathew has helped personalise education for more than 50,000 students and teachers.
The essence of Mathew, as an educational assistant, is to help students of all ages learn in a personalised way and at their own pace about any field of knowledge.
Mathew adapts to each school's educational needs and to current legislation, helping each student learn in a personalised and safe way.
Mathew's capacity to adapt is not infinite, but it is very large; it can, for example, adjust to the student's competences (soft skills) or to the level of complexity they need to work on at any given moment. Always allowing the school to teach in an analogue, digital and hybrid way, to do so without rigidity or restrictions and, of course, under the school's supervision and safeguards. It is the school, through its teaching staff, that sets Mathew's roadmap and defines the tasks Mathew helps with.
📚 These tasks can be grouped into three areas of the teaching-learning process:
1️⃣ Creation
2️⃣ Assessment
3️⃣ Support
👩🏫 In the area of creation, Mathew helps teachers automatically generate the practical content their students need. From activities and exams to personalised learning situations (projects).
The student can learn with this content when they receive it printed on paper or by logging in to Mathew with their account from a tablet or computer.
✍️ Whether answered by hand or on a device, Mathew makes it possible to carry out a formative assessment of each student's answers. Following the teacher's guidelines, for example through a rubric (created with Mathew's help), Mathew offers a proposed grade and assessment for each student, which the teacher can modify as they see fit.
This assessment includes detailed feedback that tells the student:
🔹 What they did well
🔹 What they can improve
🔹 How they should keep progressing
🔹 Review suggestions
📈 Mathew also helps support the student. From alerting the teacher when a student is struggling to resolving questions, making studying easier and helping them understand theoretical concepts.
Not forgetting that each student can independently practise whatever they need, at any time and adaptively.
🚀 There is no rigidity in Mathew, because every student is unique. That's why Mathew helps them learn and progress in a personalised, safe way and under their school's guidelines.
